Fausto Melotti Ruote, circa 1985 18kt yellow gold necklace Edition 5 of 20 Filippini Edition (Gemma Gioielli) Rejecting the traditional sculptural emphasis on volume and form, Fausto Melotti’s sculptures are de-materialized, penetrable and incorporate the empty space that passes through them. Emphatically geometric and rhythmically balanced, these works fuse Melotti’s love for mathematics and music. They have rigorous geometric proportions based on the golden section of base/height ratio and harmoniously combine straight lines and curves with concave and convex forms to create a sense of musical “counterpoint”. The jewels created in the 1980s carry the same pioneering, new genre of his modern sculptures.

Enrico Castellani Superficie, 2012 18kt white gold necklace 6.2 x 6.2 cm Edition of 12 Signed and numbered Since the late 1950’s Enrico Castellani’s work has been characterized by striking relief structures called Superficie. The jewellery project came to life in 2012/2013, using a hammer and a chisel, the artist has created bracelets and necklaces made in three different colours of gold. The geometrical patterns created in these jewels alternate positive and negative space and establish a strong interplay between light and shadow.

This project is a homage to Vigna’s Sospeso sculpture, which was commissioned for the “TRA. Edge of becoming” exhibition held at the Fortuny Museum, in 2011, during the 54th Venice Biennale. Re-imagined as a wearable sculpture, it celebrates day and night, fullness and emptiness, and the daily passage of time.

Kendell Geers Stella Maris (Mater Facit), 2011 silver rose gold plated nipple necklace varying dimensions Edition of 10 Signed and numbered Make it Yours ♥ The 2011 collaboration between Kendell Geers and Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery resulted in three different iconic pieces that convey the characteristic intensity of the artist’s works. Stella Maris (Mater Facit) is a necklace composed from female nipples, mounted in the traditional way of a bead necklace with an invisible clasp made of a bigger nipple.

Erwin Wurm Cucumber, 2014 Silver necklace with sapphires, flexible silver torque Cucumber length 4cm Edition of 10 Signed and numbered Make it Yours ♥ Erwin Wurm’s diverse, multimedia, witty oeuvre proclaims that “all is sculpture” in the spaces occupied by both art and life. The artist’s project of the ironic sculpture is one of the essential subversive strategies of modern art, occupying a prominent and original position. For an awards ceremony Wurm created a pickled cucumber, a parody of a figure of victory, outweighing provocation. From this idea he created a series of 40 works entitled Self-Portrait as Cucumber, showing his ability to laugh at himself. The jewellery project in collaboration with Elisabetta Cipriani recreates the provocation and irony of the self-portrait works, with a series of cucumber made in silver and sapphires. What Wurm wants to raise with this work is the astonishment caused by realising that the jewellery, made with precious gems, represent a simple vegetable that would otherwise be unnoticed or considered unattractive.
