“Look into a mirror and the soul stares back. Before glass there was water because nature has always provided a physical prompt for self-reflection if we take the time to pause and consider. The pandemic gave me an opportunity to go inward, to be still and quiet without distraction for an extended period of self-discovery. When I surfaced, I felt the urge to make something from metal with an almost medieval beauty, an ancient artefact in a modern world that celebrated the fact I had survived. My cuff is called ‘Self’ and is crafted from silver with gold plated studs and white diamond tips. It represents the power of self-reflection and the courage to forge a new life.” – Melanie Grant
