Elisabetta Cipriani on Artist Jewellery as Wearable Art and Collectible Design At Teatro Palladio, Elisabetta Cipriani took part in Coded Couture – Jewelry as Cultural Code in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, an event organised by Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting. Invited to speak on the role of jewelry in contemporary culture, Cipriani was tasked with presenting artist jewellery as a field of artistic, conceptual, and craft experimentation—one that today sits firmly within the realm of wearable art and collectible design. Drawing on over fifteen years of curatorial practice at her eponymous London gallery, founded in 2009, Elisabetta Cipriani articulated a vision in which jewelry transcends adornment to become a form of visual art. Italian by birth and British by adoption, she has consistently invited internationally renowned contemporary artists to create projects that explore the body as a site of meaning, transformation, and intimacy. “The jewelry I present tells a story—an idea, a connection between the artist and the material. The intention is to communicate the value of creations that are expressions of visual art, to be appreciated as much as a sculpture or a painting.” During her talk, Cipriani traced the evolution of artist jewellery from experimental studio practice to […]

Gigi Mariani is part of EC LAB, the gallery’s initiative supporting emerging and established contemporary jewellery artists who challenge the boundaries of jewellery through innovation and unique vision. This highly anticipated show will present 38 unique pieces of jewellery, including rings, earrings, necklaces, and bracelets, created specifically for this exhibition. Marks of Time reflects a dialogue between tradition and experimentation—a cornerstone of Mariani’s practice.Trained in Modena and working as a goldsmith since 1985, Gigi Mariani bridges the ancient and the contemporary. His pieces integrate age-old techniques such as niello, an ancient method using sulphur, silver, and copper to create darkened reliefs, with modern processes such as laser etching and surface manipulation by hammering. The result is jewellery that embodies texture, rawness, and emotion—where fractures, oxidation, and corrosion are not flaws, but defining elements. Marks of Time will […]

Michele Oka Doner Press Release

Elisabetta Cipriani Gallery is thrilled to announce a unique collaboration with acclaimed American artist Michele Oka Doner, resulting in an extraordinary art jewellery collection. The collection is an homage to “The Botanic Age”—a time long before the Stone Age, when plants and trees were central to human development and creativity. Dr. Dean Falk’s research at Florida State University positions this era as the true cradle of civilisation, where botanic inventions like woven baskets shaped our cognitive and cultural evolution long before we wielded stone tools. Drawn from Oka Doner’s profound connection to the natural world and human history, her designs serve as spiritual meditations of this era, reflecting a time when humans were stewards of the earth rather than its masters. Her message resonates powerfully in today’s world as we face the consequences of “Plant Blindness,” a term recently coined to describe how the Industrial Revolution has distanced humanity from the natural world. The collection is a call to action for a New Botanic Age. Oka Doner’s work is distinguished not only by her evocative vocabulary of natural forms but also by her ability to transform these forms into talismanic objects that resonate with elemental energies. Her creations are not […]
