Gigi Mariani revives ancient goldsmithing techniques, notably niello, to create distinctive, tactile surfaces. He completely oxidises the metal, allowing its natural shine to disappear beneath a dark, rough patina. This process, enhanced by cracks and textures, evokes a sense of age and emotional depth, giving each piece a raw, expressive quality reminiscent of worn or ancient artefacts.
