Time ring
Tatsuo Miyajima Time Ring, 2009 18kt white gold with white L.E.D., includes two batteries 4.3 x 3.9 x 3.9 cm Edition of 10 Signed and numbered Tatsuo Miyajima is one of Japan’s foremost sculptors and installation artists. His work has origins in the philosophy of Buddhism that conceives everything to be in continuous change, connected and lasting forever. The three leitmotivs are effectively expressed in his art through the recurrent reference to time in its perpetual flow. ‘My art relates to time and history, life and death, mind and soul and in particular to human existence. All good arts relate to thoughts about human existence.’ Tatsuo Miyajima Miyajima’s art is characterized by the combination of ever-changing numbers and digital light-emitting diodes (LED). Time Ring, the project in collaboration with Elisabetta Cipriani, perfectly encapsulates this binomial as well as the philosophy of his art. The rings, made in yellow, white or rose gold, present a LED digit display that works as a counter. Numbers are constantly flowing from 1 to 9 or vice versa representing the endless cycle of life. The zero is identified as the symbol of nothing and stillness and, therefore, it remains omitted on purpose. The counting speed ranges from […]
Rock Ring
Liliane Lijn Rock Ring A, 2009 Electroformed fine silver on cast sterling silver band ring Edition of 15 Evocative of her visual abstractions and material manipulations, Lijn’s concept of the primal earth are finely tuned with the geological sciences. With these rings, they resemble the same characteristics of the highly volatile liquid magma that keeps the planet alive and constantly rotating. This same magma that reaches the surface from volcanic eruptions, maintains the cycle of life and death, are drawn into continuous momentum of renewal and vitality that Lijn echoes in her Magma and Fossil series. The way these rings so fittingly encase the wearer’s hand engages in a very personal dialogue with Lijn’s motifs of the primal earth. In a very personal, meditative approach with these pieces, Lijn begins her pieces by moulding a clump of very hot wax around her hands to create such cuffs. The high temperature, although stung her skin, provided the malleable nature of the wax to manipulate the mass and resemble the magma of the earth. As technology has allowed her to work with a diverse range of materials in her sculptural work; instead of cast metal, electro-forming was used to carefully reflect the […]

Untitled
Rebecca Horn Untitled, 2019 22kt yellow gold, and labradorite ring Unique and signed In collaboration with Luisa del Valle, Rebecca Horn’s Untitled (2019) series encapsulates her interest in the talismanic nature of precious stones. After months of research, del Valle sourced rare, labradorite stones, of which have been revered for its protective properties. Horn was enchanted by their bright mirage of colours, creating this project of a unique 22k yellow gold and labradorite set of rings and a necklace. From every angle the wearer moves, each gemstone glows in the light. Wearing these protective talismans as it gleams a spectrum of colours is almost as if wearing the impressionists paintings of the 19th century.

Anello Delos
Alba Polenghi Lisca Anello Delos, 2003 satin silver ring 2 x 2 x 4 cm edition of 3 ‘The artist jewel includes his/her own aesthetic – artistic research, deepening of his reflection, thus becoming a piece of art independent of the jewel intended as an ornament. For me, the jewel reflects the anticipated discourse in painting translated into a new language with different materials, the design of which comes from a design – shape – sign, a process that I follow from the beginning of the work in each piece.’ – Alba Polenghi Lisca
